Equipment

  • 1 Oven
  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 Parchment paper
  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Brush for spreading butter
  • 1 Aluminum foil optional

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf sourdough bread About 1 pound.
  • 6 cloves garlic Minced.
  • ½ cup unsalted butter 1 stick, softened.
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley Chopped.
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes Optional.

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, blend the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using) until well combined.
  • Slice the sourdough bread in half lengthwise. Place the halves on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Use a brush or a knife to spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of both halves of the bread.
  • If you prefer a softer texture, cover the bread loosely with aluminum foil. For a crustier finish, leave it uncovered.
  • Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the butter is bubbling.
  • Remove from the oven and let it cool for a minute before slicing into individual pieces.

Notes

You can store any leftover garlic bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. To reheat, place it back in the oven for a few minutes until warmed through.
For an extra cheesy version, sprinkle grated Parmesan or mozzarella cheese over the butter mixture before baking.
