Equipment

  • 1 large skillet
  • 1 mixing spoon
  • 1 cutting board
  • 1 measuring cup
  • 1 measuring spoons
  • 1 serving bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground sausage your choice of mild or spicy
  • 16 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional for spice
  • as needed serving tortilla chips for serving

Instructions

  • Preheat the skillet over medium heat. Add the ground sausage and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  • Reduce the heat to low. Add the softened cream cheese, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, and shredded mozzarella cheese to the skillet. Stir continuously until melted and well blended, about 5 minutes.
  • Add garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir until all ingredients are combined and heated through, about 3 more minutes.
  • Once everything is well mixed and creamy, remove from heat. Transfer the dip into a serving bowl.
  • Serve warm with tortilla chips on the side for dipping.

Notes

You can substitute ground sausage with turkey or chicken sausage for a lighter option.
For added flavor, consider mixing in some diced jalapeños or green onions.
The dip can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator; simply reheat before serving.
This dip pairs well with sliced vegetables for a healthier option for dipping.
