1 measuring spoons
1 serving bowl
- 1 pound ground sausage your choice of mild or spicy
- 16 oz cream cheese softened
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional for spice
- as needed serving tortilla chips for serving
Preheat the skillet over medium heat. Add the ground sausage and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess grease if necessary.
Reduce the heat to low. Add the softened cream cheese, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, and shredded mozzarella cheese to the skillet. Stir continuously until melted and well blended, about 5 minutes.
Add garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir until all ingredients are combined and heated through, about 3 more minutes.
Once everything is well mixed and creamy, remove from heat. Transfer the dip into a serving bowl.
Serve warm with tortilla chips on the side for dipping.
You can substitute ground sausage with turkey or chicken sausage for a lighter option.
For added flavor, consider mixing in some diced jalapeños or green onions.
The dip can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator; simply reheat before serving.
This dip pairs well with sliced vegetables for a healthier option for dipping.
