Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped basil, chopped parsley, grated Parmesan cheese, and lemon zest.
  • Using a fork or spoon, mix all the ingredients together until well combined and smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Transfer the mixture onto a piece of plastic wrap or parchment paper. Shape it into a log, rolling it tightly. Twist the ends to secure the butter.
  • Refrigerate for at least 1 hour until firm. You can also freeze the log for longer storage.
  • To serve, slice the compound butter into rounds and place it on grilled meats, pasta, or vegetables.

Notes

Feel free to experiment with other herbs such as thyme or oregano for different flavor profiles.
This compound butter can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or frozen for up to 3 months.
