How to Make Salmon Glaze

This delicious salmon glaze is a perfect blend of sweet and tangy flavors that enhance the natural taste of salmon. It can be used as a marinade or a finishing glaze while grilling or baking. This recipe yields about 4 servings, making it ideal for a family dinner or a small gathering.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger Optional.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil or olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds For garnish, optional.
  • Chopped green onions For garnish, optional.

Instructions
 

  • In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger (if using), sesame oil, and black pepper.
  • Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar is dissolved and the glaze begins to thicken slightly, about 3-5 minutes. Do not let it boil.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and let the glaze cool for a couple of minutes. It will continue to thicken as it cools.
  • Use the glaze to marinate the salmon for at least 15 minutes before cooking or brush it on while grilling or baking the salmon.
  • If serving as a finishing glaze, brush additional glaze on the salmon during the last few minutes of cooking.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

This glaze can be prepared in advance and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes to the glaze while cooking.
Adjust the sweetness by adding more honey or brown sugar according to your taste preference.
