Equipment

  • 1 large skillet
  • 1 spatula or wooden spoon
  • 1 measuring cups
  • 1 measuring spoons
  • 1 cutting board

Ingredients

  • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced Ensure the steak is thinly sliced against the grain for optimal tenderness.
  • 1 cup jasmine rice
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 2 green onions, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the jasmine rice and beef broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for an additional 5 minutes.
  • While the rice is cooking, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced flank steak, and season with salt and black pepper. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until browned on all sides. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium, and add the unsalted butter. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  • Stir in the honey and soy sauce, then return the cooked steak to the skillet. Add the broccoli florets and toss everything to coat in the honey garlic sauce. Cook for another 3-5 minutes until the broccoli is tender.
  • Fluff the cooked rice with a fork and serve it on plates. Top with the honey garlic butter steak and broccoli mixture. Garnish with chopped green onions.

Notes

For a spicier kick, consider adding red pepper flakes to the sauce.
This dish can also be made with chicken or shrimp instead of steak.
Ensure that the steak is thinly sliced against the grain for optimal tenderness.
