Equipment

  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 whisk
  • 1 baking sheet
  • 1 parchment paper
  • 1 clean kitchen towel
  • 1 oven

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm milk 110°F/43°C
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and instant yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  • Add the melted butter and egg to the yeast mixture and whisk until smooth.
  • Gradually add the flour and salt to the wet ingredients, mixing with a wooden spoon until a soft dough forms.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 2 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  • Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape each piece into a ball.
  • Place the dough balls onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about an inch apart.
  • Cover them with a clean kitchen towel and let rise in a warm place for 10-15 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven, allow to cool slightly, then enjoy warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, brush the rolls with melted butter right after baking.
You can substitute milk with non-dairy alternatives for a vegan option, but the texture may vary slightly.
Store leftover rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for 1-2 days or freeze for longer storage.
