In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, chopped green onions, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
Take a wonton wrapper and place about a teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture in the center.
Moisten the edges of the wrapper with a little water. Fold the wrapper in half to create a triangle. Press the edges tightly to seal.
Repeat this process for all wonton wrappers until the cream cheese filling is used up.
Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a frying pan or deep fryer over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
Carefully add a few wontons to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
Using a slotted spoon, remove the cooked wontons and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Serve the cream cheese wontons hot with sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce for dipping.
Make sure the oil is hot enough before adding the wontons to prevent them from becoming greasy.
You can prepare the wontons ahead of time and freeze them uncooked. Just fry them straight from the freezer; they may need an extra minute or two to cook thoroughly.
Feel free to experiment by adding crab meat or other seasonings into the cream cheese mixture for a variation.
