- 1 large green cabbage About 2 pounds.
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder Optional.
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika Optional.
- 1 lemon juiced Optional for serving.
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
Rinse the cabbage and remove any damaged outer leaves. Cut the cabbage into 1-inch thick slices, creating 'steaks.' You should get about 4-6 steaks from the cabbage, depending on its size.
Place the cabbage steaks on the prepared baking sheet, and brush both sides with olive oil.
Sprinkle the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika (if using) evenly over the steaks.
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and roast the cabbage for about 25 minutes, flipping halfway through the cooking time. Roast until the edges are golden brown and the cabbage is tender.
Once done, remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving. Drizzle with lemon juice if desired for added brightness.
Cabbage steaks can be served as a side dish, topped with your favorite sauce or accompaniment.
Adding cheese or breadcrumbs on top before roasting can enhance the flavor and texture.
Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
