Equipment

  • 1 air fryer
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 colander
  • 1 paper towels

Ingredients

  • 2 cans chickpeas 15 oz each, drained and rinsed.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper Optional for heat.

Instructions

  • Start by draining and rinsing the canned chickpeas in a colander. Pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the dried chickpeas with olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, ground cumin, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper if you like it spicy. Toss everything together thoroughly.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes while you prepare the chickpeas.
  • Once preheated, place the seasoned chickpeas in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook in batches if necessary.
  • Cook the chickpeas for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking.
  • Once cooked, remove the chickpeas from the air fryer and let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Feel free to experiment with different spices based on your preferences. Other great options include curry powder, chili powder, or nutritional yeast for a cheesy flavor.
Store any leftover chickpeas in an airtight container for up to 3 days, although they are best eaten fresh. To re-crisp, simply pop them back in the air fryer for a few minutes.
